How India Is Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025: Empowerment, Equality & Change
International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8th March 2025 will be celebrated across India in the form of one or more event and activity, portraying the nation’s solidarity towards women empowerment and gender equality. Certain of the primary celebrations and events being held are described below:
National Initiatives
Million Amazing Women Project:
Mega 12-year project was launched on 10th January, 2025, to click one million women’s photographs from all over the world starting with India. From 8th March, 2025, the project will start from Visakhapatnam to share the motivational stories of women belonging to 195 countries.
Two-Day Virtual Celebrations & Awards:
SHHFI & SRICASW is organizing this virtual celebration on 8 & 9 March, 2025, with the theme of UN as “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” It is a presentation, workshop, and panel discussion program where all over the world can visit and gather and celebrate the triumph of women.
Regional Events
Women Entrepreneurs India Celebration Chennai:
Women Entrepreneurs India is hosting a grand celebration on 8th March 2025 with over 100 stalls, expert sessions, experiential workshop sessions, and a fashion show. The event is specially planned to empower and motivate women entrepreneurs through networking sessions as well as offering details about the funding facilities available.
Annual Day & IWD Celebration at Jayarani College, Salem:
Jayarani College is organizing its Annual Day and International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2025. The day will feature keynote addresses, felicitation of achievers, cultural events, and thematic presentations on women empowerment.
International Women’s Day Run 2025:
A virtual race on 9 March 2025 invites runners to run a 5K, 10K, or half marathon of their preference anywhere. Both men and women are invited to run a distance and there is also women empowerment celebration with special runner kits for participants.
IWD25 Celebrations by GDG Baroda:
Google Developer Groups Baroda is conducting an event on 9th March, 2025, and the theme is “Redefine Possible.” The event will consist of expert sessions, networking, and debate on technology adoption and community strength.
Cultural and Social Initiatives
Lavasa Women’s Drive: It is a yearly charity drive and rally on International Women’s Day in which one drives from Pune and Mumbai to Lavasa. It is also run in association with The Times of India and for the purpose of money collection towards the Woman’s Cancer Initiative of Tata Memorial Hospital and spreading awareness about women’s cancers.
