How to File a Complaint for Cyber Harassment in India

Collect Evidence – Take screenshots, record URLs, save emails/messages, and gather any proof related to the harassment

File a Complaint Online – Visit the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) and submit your complaint under the appropriate category

Visit the Nearest Police Station – File a First Information Report (FIR) at your local police station. If they refuse, approach the Cyber Crime Cell of your city

Legal Provisions to Cite – Cyber harassment falls under Section 354D (stalking), 507 (criminal intimidation through anonymity), and 509 (insulting modesty of a woman) of the IPC, along with sections under the IT Act, 2000 (Sec 66A, 66C, 66E, 67, etc.)

Approach Women’s Helplines (If Applicable) – If the victim is a woman, she can also seek help from NCW (National Commission for Women) by filing a complaint at ncw.nic.in
